Alex Caruso's decided to stay local and help build his hometown program with fellow top-100 commit, J-Mychal Reese.

The apple didn't fall far from the tree. Alex Caruso, a 6-6 rising senior from College Station (TX), verbally committed to play for Texas A&M next year, where his father Mike serves as the current Associate Athletic Director.

"Home is where the heart is," he told Scout.com reporters last night.

Caruso chose to play for Coach Billy Kennedy and the hometown Aggies over Colorado. The explosive two-guard, who averaged 18 points per outing last season for A&M Consolidated, joins J-Mychal Reese (Bryan H.S./Bryan, TX) as part of Kennedy's 2012 class.

After beginning the summer with only three scholarship offers on the table (Northern Colorado, Houston State and Richmond), Caruso burst into the national concsiousness with a breakout party at the Pangos All-American Camp in Carson, CA.

Caruso's offers quickly multiplied as he scaled up the national top-100 rankings. ESPN slots the wingman at No. 84 while Rivals and Scout rank him at No. 67 and 75 in the class of 2012, respectively.

Call it a coup for Billy Kennedy, who's filling up College Station with nationally-acclaimed local talent.
