Macon the call: WVU-bound
Huntington Prep's 6-8 power forward recommits to Mountaineers
After opening up his recruitment in March of 2010 to "keep an open mind," Huntington Prep's 6-8 power forward Elijah Macon has recommitted to playing for Coach Bob Huggins.
He chose the Mountaineers over USC, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh and Iowa, among other offers.
Rivals ranks Macon at No. 57 overall in the Class of 2012 and the 18th best power forward. He becomes Huggins' first 2012 commitment.
"Elijah is a very athletic, step-out [power forward] who can score," his Huntington Prep Coach Rob Fulford told the WV Gazette. "His ability to put the ball on the floor and make plays will be a problem at the next level.
"Elijah is a very aggressive offensive and defensive player that's contagious to teammates. He gives WVU a much-needed skilled 'big' who can play away from the basket as well as bully guys on the post when needed."
A Columbus, Ohio-native, Macon played for All-Ohio Red this past summer and put in strong performances at the NBPA Top 100 Camp, King James Classic and Pitt Jam Fest.
