Yeah, Buddy
The Sooner, the better; 6-3 SG Buddy Hield chooses Oklahoma
As quickly as he burst onto the scene this July for Kansas Pray and Play, Buddy Hield's (Bel Aire, KS/Sunrise Christian Academy) recruitment is over. The 6-3 two-guard with major bounce, a Bahamas-native, committed to the University of Oklahoma Sunday night.
He picked the Sooners over Kansas and Colorado.
"I had a feeling in my mind that (Norman) was somewhere I would like to be and as the coaches got to know me and talk to me more and the chance that I got to bond with them more I realized I wanted to commit," Hield told SoonerScoop.com.
"I love the way coach (Lon) Kruger has come into play this year. They did a good job recruiting me and after my visit it was down to a family decision with me and my family and my coach."
Hield becomes newly-appointed Head Coach Lon Kruger's first 2012 commitment.
His stock soared this summer after back-to-back scoring eruptions at NY2LA Summer Jam and adidas Invitational, where he hung 35 points on Five-Star rated Shabazz Muhammad and his Las Vegas-based Dream Vision club.
Rivals lists Hield as the 17th best shooting guard in 2012 and No. 94 overall in his class. A potent scorer, Hield can knock it down from deep and sports a 3.8 GPA in the classroom.
