Things are looking up for Brey, Notre Dame

Philly-native commits early to play for coach Mike Brey and the Irish

Stephen Vasturia, a 6-foot-4 2013 shooting guard from St. Joseph’s Prep in Philly, has verbally committed to Notre Dame, according to Tony Sagona of the Jersey Shore Warriors.

“About 15 minutes ago,” Sagona told FiveStarBasketball.com Monday afternoon.

Vasturia chose the Irish over Virginia, Georgetown, Northwestern, Temple and Penn State.

“His upside is tremendous,” Sagona said. “He has great range, he’s a great shooter. He just has a tremendous feel for the game. And he’s a wonderful kid.”

Sagona said Vasturia was similar to Charlotte Bobcats wing Matt Carroll, a Notre Dame alum who sponsors the Warriors.

“He’s in the Matt Carroll mold,” Sagona said.
