Sam Dekker: State Championship Game-Winner

Future Wisconsin swingman comes up BIG for his team when it counts

Sam Dekker just capped an illustrious career for Sheboygan Area Lutheran (WI).

Dekker, a 2013 senior who narrowly missed being selected for the McDonald's All-American Game, and his team were on the ropes in the WIAA Division 5 State Championship Game.

Always somewhat of an overlooked player, Dekker averaged  26.5 points, 9.2 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2.9 steals per game as a sophomore. He then came back his junior year and improved on those averages, compiling 28.9 points (second-highest in the state), 10.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 2.4 steals and 1.9 blocks per contest. He finished his career with 2,629 points, good for fourth in state history.

Not shown in the clip above are Sam's 15 other 4th quarter points, including 6 other key points in the final minute of the game.

The Wisconsin Badgers have a good one coming next fall, that much is certain.
