2013 Texas Titan sharpshooter Matthew Jones caught the eye of Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski today at Peach Jam.

Pool play is now in the books and the Nike Peach Jam quarterfinals are all set. Matchups tip-off tonight at 6 pm EST:

Georgia Stars vs. Mac Irvin Fire
Memphis YOMCA vs. Texas Titans
Oakland Soldiers vs. New Jersey Playaz
BABC vs. Team Takeover

Standouts and notes listed below were obtained during the night session of Day 2 and morning session of Day 3 at Nike Peach Jam. Tomorrow evening we will post standout players and notes from Thursday's night session and Friday's morning and afternoon sessions.

Nerlens Noel (BABC): Perhaps the most complete and impressive stat line of the EYBL season to date, the gangly 6-foot-10 PF/C posted a triple-double with 13 points, 10 rebounds and 12 blocks in an overtime win over CIA Bounce. Going up against the vaunted Canadian front line of 7-5 Xavier-commit Sim Bhullar and 6-8 Anthony Bennett, Noel dominated the paint and defensive boards, and even showed glimpses of an improving offensive repertoire with a couple of impressive moves around the basket.

Matthew Jones (Texas Titans): Showed that Five-Star rated Julius Randle isn't the only thing popping on that team. The 6-4 2013 sharpshooting SG went off last night in the Titans blowout win over Louisiana Select, pouring in a game-high 27 points on 11-of-20 from the field, including 5-of-10 from behind the arc. He followed that performance up with 21 points this morning in a win over Boo Williams, with five more triples nine rebounds and three assists. Jones did an excellent job coming off of screens and squaring up to the basket for his long-range jumpers.

Myles Davis (New Jersey Playaz): Davis picked a great time to break out of his disastrous shooting slump, scoring a game-high 22 points, including five treys, in what was essentially a playoff win against a hot CP3 All-Stars team to advance out of Pool C this morning. With Georgetown's John Thompson III and Xavier's Chris Mack keeping a close tab on the 6-3 shooter, Davis not only made shots, but made big shots, including a deep straight away three with the shot clock winding down late in the game that put the nail in the coffin.

James Robinson (Team Takeover): It doesn't always look pretty but this kid just gets the job done. Robinson scored an efficient 25 points on 9-of-12 shooting last night in a big come-from-behind win over Houston Hoops. The DeMatha Catholic product went toe-to-toe with Houston's three guards and also added four rebounds, six assists and three steals.

Archie Goodwin (Arkansas Wings): Appears to be back to form after breaking his wrist at Pangos last month. Goodwin lit Team Takeover up for a 30-spot en route to handing the DMV'ers just their second loss of the season, 76-68, this morning.

Notable stat lines:

Kyle Anderson (New Jersey Playaz): 17 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists in 63-53 win over CP3 All-Stars.

Timothy Williams (Meanstreets): 27 points on 13-of-18 shooting in 15-point win over All Iowa Attack; added 10 rebounds and two steals.

Jarnell Stokes (Memphis YOMCA): 18 points and 12 rebounds in win over NJ Playaz; shot 6-of-8 from the field.

Julian Harrell (California Supreme): 24 points on 9-of-14 from the field vs. Albany City Rocks; 4-of-5 from long distance; added three assists, three steals with no turnovers.

Samuel Cassell (B-More Elite): 20 points in 17 minutes in 64-61 win over Spiece. Shot 6-of-6 from the field, 4-of-4 from three-point range, 4-of-4 from the free throw line; also had two rebounds, four assists and no turnovers.

Tony Parker (Georgia Stars): 18 points, nine rebounds and three blocks in 13-point win over Houston Hoops; shot 9-of-11 from the field in 25 minutes.

Notes:

  • After yet another triple-double performance this morning, one Division I head coach compared Kyle Anderson's game to that of Kansas great Danny Manning
  • After being on hand to watch Julius Randle play this morning, word has it that Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski came away very impressed with Randle's teammate SG Matthew Jones. Look for the Blue Devils to get involved with the 2013 prospect.
  • St. John's coach Steve Lavin and his staff, Georgetown's John Thompson III, Seton Hall's Kevin Willard and Shaheen Holloway and new UCLA assistant Kory McCray were all on hand to watch Kyle Anderson this morning. It's down to those four schools for the highly touted point forward.
  • Here are Peach Jam's leading scorers after pool play: Archie Goodwin (Arkansas Wings) - 20.4 PPG, Rasheed Sulaimon (Houston Hoops) - 20.2, Brandon Ashley (Oakland Soldiers) - 19.4, Matthew Jones (Texas Titans) - 19.2, Jabari Parker (Mac Irvin Fire) - 18.8.
