Passing On The Move With Ricky Rubio

Rubio is the consummate play-maker who is always looking for a teammate

Ever since he started playing professional basketball at the age of 14 in Barcelona, Spain, Ricky Rubio has been one of the most polarizing figures in the worldwide basketball community.

Rubio was drafted 5th overall in the 2009 NBA Draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves and hit a rough patch in Europe this past season, but his play-making prowess has never been questioned; Ricky is one of the most creative players in the world with the rock in his hands.

The video above is just one example of his ability. Rubio receives a handoff on the right side of the court and uses a screen to get by his man as he moves to the center of the court. Still in motion toward the rim, he crosses the ball from left to right and again from right to left—a move that keeps the helping big man on his heels.

The rest is history, as Rubio shovels a no-look, lefty scoop pass to a streaking teammate for an easy deuce.

He might have struggled a bit in Europe, but with NBA-caliber athletes running the wings and roaming the baselines, watch out.
