Huge holiday weekend of action causes for major movement in the rankings

With nearly every team in action this past Memorial Day weekend, in events all around the country, there were plenty of statement wins and upsets to go around. With June here and the weather getting hotter, things on the circuit will only follow suit.

Haven't played together as 16Us in a while, but isn't it scary to think that a good chunk of this team carried the 17Us to a perfect 5-0 slate in LA?

This talented group went a very respectable 2-3 in L.A., playing up in the brutal EYBL 17U field, with wins over Metro Hawks and the Charlotte Royals.

The Canadians followed suit of their 17U brethren, going undefeated in Chicago, with a win over a tough OBC squad, 69-64, in the championship game.

Showed its championship resiliency at Bob Gibbons, taking the whole thing after a shocking pool play loss to Florida Family.

Indianapolis, Ind.
Played up in the Memorial Day Classic in Merrillville and lost to Full Package in the semifinals.

Chicago, Ill.
This talented Chi-town bunch is off until July, but don't lose sight of the momentum they've built heading into their vacay — made the finals at Spiece before winning in Milwaukee two weeks ago.

Columbus, Ohio
Can you say in-state rivalry? The Reds knocked Ohio Varsity out of its third straight event, the latest in the finals of the Midwest Future Stars Showdown and Shootout.

Raleigh, N.C.
Took a tough semifinal L in Atlanta to eventual champ YOMCA, but not before taking out No. 19 St. Louis Eagles in the quarters.

Off last week, except for coveted big man Jhalil Okafor, who more than held his own playing way up with the 17Us in L.A.

If it wasn't for No. 7 All-Ohio Red, this bunch may be in the Top 5.

Had a solid showing in Atlanta, but fell to the Metro Hawks in the semis.

After winning two straight big events last month, this talented NYC crew has hit a rough patch — the latest slip-up to a very good Sports U Team IZOD squad in the GymRat Albany semis.

Jump into the rankings after taking the chip in a loaded 16U field in Atlanta; beat No. 8 CP3 in the semis and No. 25 Metro Hawks in the title game.

Not a good showing at Gibbons, losing to Team Maryland NCA in pool play before a 72-49 shellacking at the hands of Team United in the Select Final.

Took another weekend off, but back at it this week in the Tournament of Americas in the ATL.

Idle last week, this West Coast crew doesn't get back to work until July.

Played in the Delaware Memorial Day Classic where they lost to eventual champs CT Select team in the semis.

If not for a 35-foot Anton Gill prayer at the buzzer, the Lightning would've beat No. 4 Garner Road for the Gibbons title. Keep an eye on this program who've added Five-Star rated Kuran Iverson to split time with the 16Us and 17Us.

Who said it never rains in Southern California? The Defenders went out to L.A. and got blasted by Seattle Rotary, 83-56, in the semis.

Played in the Big Shots event in Richmond where they fell to Takeover Hoop Magic in the chip, but were shorthanded without Daquan McNeil, who played up with the 17s in L.A.

Tough West Coast trip, as Hoops fell to All-Iowa Attack in the first round Nike EYB West Coast Memorial Day 16U Classic.

Los Angeles, Calif.
Stayed home and took the Nike EYB West Coast Memorial Day 16U Classic, beating Seattle Rotary in the finals. We'll see more of this squad at Peach Jam.

New York, N.Y.
Made it all the way to the finals in Atlanta; beat No. 11 Boo Williams in the semis before bowing out to No. 14 YOMCA in the championship.
