15U Power Rankings: Week 1: April 11, 2012

Plenty of movement in week one

Team Texas Elite held onto its No. 1 preseason ranking, but that's about where the similarities end between this week and last. Worldwide will be playing up with the 16s this year, so they are gone from the rankings. Meanwhile the Long Island Lightning and Houston Hoops move in after impressive performances.

1 1 none
Dallas, Texas

Idle Team Texas Elite keeps the No. 1 ranking this week. Austin Grandstaff and Matt McQuaid are back in action this weekend though and will need some wins to hold off the teams ranked right below them.

2 3 up
Columbia, S.C.

Won IceBreaker Invitational

After winning the IceBreaker Invitational in Georgia a couple weeks ago, the Columbia Slammers took the week off to enjoy their spot near the top.

3 4 up
Compton, Calif.

Swept Arizona Easter Classic

The Compton Magic went a perfect 4-0 at the Arizona Easter Classic. It shouldn’t be a surprise that this team went unbeaten either — Cameron Walker, Sedrick Barefield and Kendall Lauderdale were all outstanding.

4 up
Washington, D.C.

Won Playaz Spring Fling

Typical of the Takeover program, this team locks up. After watching Team Scan nail numerous threes in the first half of their Spring Fling final matchup, they stepped up and eventually had a mercy rule win. Marcus Derrickson and Justin Jennifer are two of a handful of standout players.

5 6 up
Atlanta Celtics (J-Smoove)
Atlanta, Ga.

The Celtics are looking to build upon a quarterfinals appearance at Nationals last season.

6 7 up
California Supreme
Los Angeles, Calif.

Mason Shepard has been making noise on the West Coast for some time now, but this 2015 stud is just getting started.

7 5 down
Bronx, N.Y.

Advanced to finals of Playaz Spring Fling

Scan had to play without Thomas Bryant and Devonte Green this past weekend at the Spring Fling. Without them, they were still able to make the finals thanks to the play of Chancellor Ellis and Thomas Ray. They were mercy ruled in the final by Team Takeover.

8 9 up
Las Vegas, Nev.

They didn’t play this past week, so they better be prepared for the adidas Spring Invitational in Las Vegas on April 20-22. With a strong showing, they should be able to hold on to the nine-spot and possibly even move up.

9 up
West Hempstead, N.Y.

Reached semifinals of Playaz Spring Fling

St. Mary's freshman Jesse Govan is not only big but skilled and he proved that this past weekend at the Spring Fling. The team reached the semis before Chancellor Ellis hit a game-winning three for Team Scan ended their title hopes.

10 up
Houston, Texas

Won Houston Easter Classic

The Houston crew cracks the rankings after taking home title honors at the Houston Easter Classic. They took down the 16U Alabama Select in the finals of the event.
